Yeah, it's time for an update

Wow, didn’t realize it had been SO long since I’d “blogged”. Really, I am just procrastinating ... we’ve decided to move, and our house is in the hellish state of chaos as we try to get it ready to sell. Have had a contractor in who has removed the wallpaper in both the kitchen and our master bath - a tedious, tough job - the paper in the kitchen was well hung, and the paper in the bathroom just wanted to separate, leaving the glue still on the wall but the color part came right off. So three days of just getting wallpaper down - what a mess. Katie was quite traumatized the first time she saw it: “My HOUSE! What happened to my house? My walls is broken!” The contractor returns Monday, and this weekend will likely be spent shuttling a lot of stuff to storage, in anticipation of “staging” our house to sell (yes, we watch all of those shows on TV about how to best stage your house ... so lot of stuff is going away!)

Haven’t 100% decided where we are going just yet. Did find a neighborhood we like, one builder we like really really well but he’s really really expensive - less house for more money. The other builder we were ready to put a lot deposit down until our house sells, but the owner came back asking that we execute a full contract - including putting 10% down, which we aren’t quite prepared to do, not without our house even on the market. (This same builder who now asks for 10% down had a price change - they originally quoted us one per square foot price and it went up by $5 a square foot ... so little nervous anyway.) So ... still talking with our agents, not sure where we’ll end up, but moving forward with listing our house in the meantime. Hopefully by this time next week our house will have a “For Sale” sign out front.

And we got some killer snow this week - check out the pictures. It is still on the ground, two days later - which is remarkable for Texas.

Angie comes to town this next week - hopefully much of the house work will be done by then; it’s driving me crazy having all of these boxes and clutter everywhere. As soon as she leaves, my folks arrive - they are going to stay with Katie while Skip & I take a long weekend to Phoenix to watch a golf tournament, and onto Las Vegas for a little fun. We figure that’s when we’ll start to get offers on the house - the weekend we aren’t around. Mom & Dad are prepared to pick up Katie & leave - they know that they may have to vacate for long periods of time if people are interested in seeing the house while they are here (fortunately they know the drill).

Well, I suppose I should finish uploading some new music to my iPhone and stop procrastinating - got some more stuff to run to the Goodwill, some laundry to do, and more packing. Ugh. Guess you should maybe anticipate a few more blogs from me, though, as I look for ways to procrastinate from my move work ...
