Movin and birthdays and other Spring Stuff

Well, the house is still on the market. We’ve had a lot of potential buyers come through, and the biggest negative feedback by far is that our staircase is right in the entry way as you enter the house - apparently that’s bad “feng shui”, as all of the energy our house needs “rushes up the staircase”. Who knew? What’s frustrating is that we get a lot of feedback that the potential buyers love the house, but cannot get over the staircase. Can’t do much about that, although Skip has contemplated a chain saw and a rope ladder.

Have had one offer so far, but it was $20K under our current asking price (which is already $15K under where we started). We countered and countered again, finally getting the buyer up to our very bottom dollar ... but they wanted ALL of the media equipment upstairs at that price. Um, no. We continue to casually look at other neighborhoods and houses, but haven’t put offers out anywhere until we know our home will sell.

We’ve all celebrated additional birthdays - I tried yet again to surprise Skip by bringing Mack down from KC for a golf weekend, but Skip found out about it as he was trying to figure out when I was coming back from Nashville. But he had a good time nonetheless, even getting a round of 18 in at Twin Creeks with Mack and a couple of coworkers Matt and Chad.

For Katie’s birthday we kept it low key, just meeting up with a few friends at a pizza place - good times. She had her three year appointment this last week; she’s not quite 40 inches tall and by all accounts is very healthy. She only had to get one shot this time, and she didn’t even flinch! Doc already warned us that at four, there are a TON of shots ... not sure what I can do in the upcoming year to get us both ready for that!

Her vocabulary grows every single day and she cracks us up. She’s very into “DDDs” (DVDs), loving anything put out by PIxar. “The Incredibles” is her current fave; she’s watched it several times and after she watches it she says “I’m INCREDIBLE, Mommy!” Why yes you are, sweetie. She’s very into playgrounds and puzzles, too, at this age - she loves the big floor ones. Unfortunately Katie appears to have gotten the Kramer temper, so we are trying to figure out how to moderate that in some way. We spend a fair amount of time in “time out” and having the DDD’s taken away, trying to get her to understand there are consequences for her actions.

We have also been up and back to Nebraska once - for Arbor Day, the city of Holdrege has a presentation ceremony for everyone who has purchased trees for the city parks in the past year. One of DiAnn’s friends did that, but she wasn’t able to be in Holdrege for the ceremony so we went. It was a nice chance to get back; got to see the memorial monument for DiAnn at the ceremony, too. After Holdrege we trekked into Omaha - Skip went to the Woodstock of Capitalism and I took Katie to the zoo (I remembered the hills but dang, it was still a butt-kicking experience, especially pushing a stroller up that last hill to get out!).
